Plans & Billing

Every Netzilo Cloud account is on one of three plans: Free, Professional or Enterprise. The plan sets how many users and devices the account may have and which features it can change. The Plans & Billing tab shows your current plan and usage, and is where you upgrade, downgrade and find your invoices.

You find it under Settings > Plans & Billing, or with Change Plan on the plan card at the bottom of the sidebar.

The Plans & Billing tab on an Enterprise account, with the current plan card showing 7 of Unlimited users and 4 of Unlimited peers, the Payment Portal link, and cards to change to Free or Professional

What each plan allows

PlanUsersDevicesWhat is not included
Free5100Changing posture checks, profiles, event streaming and the networking integrations
ProfessionalUnlimitedUnlimitedProfiles
EnterpriseUnlimitedUnlimitedNothing: every feature is available
  • Agents count as users. On the Free plan, an Agent you create for automation takes one of the five user seats.
  • Edge filters and guardrails have no plan restriction. Every plan can create and use them.
  • There is no limit on groups, policies, routes, DNS nameserver groups, setup keys, API tokens, guardrails, filters, providers, limits or MCP servers.

Both paid plans start with a 14-day free trial. Enterprise bills a minimum of 10 users, even when the account has fewer. The plan cards on the tab show the current price per user per month; the pricing page compares the plans in detail.

Upgrade from Free

  1. Go to Settings > Plans & Billing.
  2. Under Upgrade your Netzilo Plan, click Upgrade to Professional or Upgrade to Enterprise.
  3. You are taken to the payment provider's checkout page. Enter your payment details there.
  4. You come back to the dashboard, which confirms that the subscription has started.

Change between paid plans

  1. Go to Settings > Plans & Billing.
  2. Click Upgrade to Enterprise or Downgrade to Professional.
  3. The dialog shows how your monthly charge changes. Click Continue.

The change takes effect immediately. You get a pro-rated charge for the current billing cycle.

Downgrade to Free

  1. Make sure the account fits the Free limits: at most 5 users, Agents included, and at most 100 peers.
  2. Click Downgrade to Free and confirm with Continue.

The downgrade takes effect immediately, and the features of the paid plan stop being available. If the account is over a limit, the dashboard stops you with Please reduce number of users to 5 in order to be able to downgrade. or Please reduce number of peers to 100 in order to be able to downgrade. Remove users or peers first, then try again.

Invoices

Below your current plan, the Payment Portal link opens the payment provider's portal, where you find your invoices.

When a limit is reached

A plan limit always names itself. If you see one of these messages, the plan is the cause:

MessageWhereWhat to do
maximum number of users reachedAdding or inviting a sixth user or Agent on FreeDelete a user or Agent, or upgrade
maximum number of personal peers reachedOn the device, when the 101st device on Free tries to join. The dashboard shows nothing.Remove unused peers, or upgrade

Any other error, even on the same action, has a different cause.

Timing of plan changes

User and device counts, and the plan behind every limit, are reconciled once a day in the early hours UTC. After an upgrade, a limit can therefore keep refusing you for up to 24 hours. Wait for the next reconcile; do not buy the plan again.

When a payment fails

If the subscription ends, for example because a payment failed, the account goes back to Free. Nothing is deleted and nothing is disconnected: existing users, devices, policies and routes keep working, even above the Free limits. What stops is new work: no new users beyond five, no new devices beyond one hundred, no posture check or profile changes, no event streaming. Restoring the subscription restores them.

Self-hosted Netzilo Server

A self-hosted Netzilo Server has no payment provider. The Netzilo installer sets the server up in managed mode: every tenant created on it is Enterprise, with no user or device limits, and the Plans & Billing tab is not shown. The plan card in the sidebar reads Managed.

A tenant that existed before the server ran in managed mode keeps the plan it had.

Troubleshooting

The tab is greyed out. You are not the Owner. Ask the Owner, or have the Owner transfer the role to you in Team > Users.

Upgraded, but a feature is still refused. The daily reconcile has not run yet. Wait up to 24 hours.

Features can no longer be added, but nothing was deleted. The subscription lapsed and the account is on Free. Restore the subscription.

An Enterprise feature is refused on a self-hosted server. The tenant was created before the server ran in managed mode and kept its old plan. This is a server setting, not billing: contact Netzilo support to change the tenant's plan.

  • Tenant - Logo, tenant ID and deleting the tenant
  • Users - Users and roles, and transferring ownership
  • Agents - Agents and API tokens
  • Posture Checks - Device requirements
  • Profiles - Enterprise Workspace and browser profiles
  • Event Streaming - Stream activity events to a bucket
